It’s hard to say…

Was today typical?

Which day? Or which moment of any day can be considered typical? If you live your life consumed by the present, then your presence is consumed in the now. Consider that ‘within the now’ no time exists! No time to spend, no time to waste, no time at all! Without the burden of time, all of our limitations, definitions, all of our histories and sciences, all of the things we once thought of, or about, the perceptions we’ve gauged our “life” by, none of that is. None of it ever was, it never will be.

Think of life as a garden hose. Streaming through that hose is cool, fresh water. That swift-flowing water represents everything. It is space and time. The water is all and everything, from the hang-nail bleeding on your pinky finger to the next galaxy to be discovered next Thursday. It is all, everything carried through that hose passes through you; you are the nozzle. The hose contains, carries, and transports what we may call our stream of consciousness.

The hose itself can, or could, or may be considered as any spiritual or even religious beliefs a person might drag about their garden of consciousness (another metaphor). The hose is just an awkward device that enables, controls, resists, and may even resist, resent, or in any way control our surrounding time, space, and all that metaphysical stuff. It’s basically a conduit directing everything (all things) to, through, and from the now.

When we become the now, the now unbecomes us. We become the here and now! Metaphorically, our very and entire essence is and exists at the very tip, the very end of that hose, the orifice. There, through that orrifice, all and everything passes. Passes through and by us as everything through that single orifice: that teeny tiny space that is all you are. Not continuously, but always and effortlessly. It is your here and now, always present. Presence is all everything as it goes through that tiny orifice in any instant. It is here and now, present, future, and past, the now and then. It’s all and everything. It’s no longer now, it just is.

But “it” is not at the end of the hose; it is simply the now becoming then just beyond the end of the hose, passing on to splatter on the ground, seeking to become more life, or en route to the sea, and further to the clouds, still and always seeking to remain as life.

That’s it. That’s all! Just don’t drink from the hose; let every bit run to the sea.

I’d refine and define this to a much deeper and greater extent, but the wife just called; she’s on her way home from work. I’d forgotten that her brother is coming home with her. I still haven’t pulled and folded the clothes from the dryer or emptied the dishwasher. Gotta run!
