Hi! We figured you might not be able to visit before snowfall, winter can get really nasty, icy, and very cold here. Roads are to die on. We know how eager you are to visit, but we thought you might want to hold off until Spring, when warmth returns. We hope this simple introduction will help you get around if you arrive.
We know how much you’ve wanted to see our place, everyone does, and unfortunately, geography makes it difficult for regular visits. In the meantime, we offer problematic or potential visitors this partial virtual postcard tour. So pull up a chair, have a cup of Chai, and click away! Mmmm… It smells like Nalini is cooking up some wonderful snacks and treats to share. So, pull up a chair and welcome aboard, let’s catch up!

Your first view is the scene that greets all who come through our front door. Just set your stuff on the couch for now. It converts into a very comfortable bed, but as you can see, it serves as a second writing space for me as well.

Then, as you turn back, you will see the door you just entered and that very same couch, less my writing paraphenalia, and now featuring Reyn, our part-time guard cat and princess of the house. Above the couch hangs a traditional needlepoint circle featuring four peacocks featuring ceremonial hand puppets on either side.

As you turn towards the dining room, you will pass br our never-used fireplace and mantle shelves of interesting knick-knacks, or is it bric-a-brac? I’m not really sure which term applies. The view across and beyond is our dining room, and one of its two corner windows. Through them from the table and chairs draws a 140-degree panorama of our quad. T
The colors beyond the window cycle from white to brown, to green, with every sort of in-between through the seasons. You will be drawn to all of our home’s windows to watch the hummingbirds, butterflies, crows, and songbirds, not to mention rain and lightning (lots of lightning), and all the infinite seasonal forms and curious variations of snowfall. To your right is more seating in the living room and a view of the kitchen. To the very far right is a glimpse of the central Hallway.

Above and below shots of the master bedroom, which you find by leaving the kitchen and entering the main hall at its opposite side, turn left and go through the door there. This bedroom also has windows on two walls. Our unit stays bright and temperate all year round, but seldom gets too hot from the sun due to its Northern exposure. The master bath lies beyond that archway, and the wall on the left conceals a huge walk-in closet. Barely seen to the right and behind the door with the knob is an ample linen closet. The door to the right that is open enters the central hall…

Two views of the central hall. Can you find: 1- a small lower section of the hall bathroom door jamb, 2- a door to the coat closet, 3- the arched passway to the living room (bonus point if you can identify the front door you entered through, 4- washer and dryer, 5- entry to kitchen, 6- thermostat.
Hint: some items appear twice. Bonus points if you can identify both! Notice also that neither hall nor bathroom features any windows. The bathrooms are, however, fairly roomy. The halls tend to be adequately long and provide access to all rooms, closets, and storage.

Above is our studio, used for yoga, meditation, dancing, writing, crafts, and other interesting and diabolical things. To the left of the desk is a window that looks out toward the front door and porch.
Below is the second, or hall bathroom and seen through the door of second hall. This bath can be entered from the studio through this small hall, or from the main hall. Note that the small hall has a large hanging closet and a linen closet.

Above is our quad, or courtyard. This is pretty much what we see from our dining room, or from our porch through the sliding glass door. This, and other open spaces, were important factors in choosing Visquia.
If you cross the common parking area to one of our cars, or when you take out the trash, you can cross this Arroyo, walk the quarter mile to Albertsons, State Farm, Subway, or (two, count them two) Chinese Restaurants. Across the way, you can stop and shop at ACE Hardware for an icepick, or stop by my dentist and say ‘hi’, or (soon) even my doctor for tests or fill prescriptions.
It’s all here!

Reyn says she is bored…
