… our wetish sci-fi dreams…
(275 words, 1 minute read time.)
Had you asked me when I was ten and building model rockets that shot to the sky, some in stages that glided home or landed gently in trees after drifting softly down tethered to parachutes that popped from their nose cones at apogee. I had hand-me-down blueprints of the Saturn V posted to my walls, Enterprise and Klingon ship models hung from my ceiling.
Or when our family sat in our den with every TV we could find, waiting anxiously in 1969 to see Neil Armstrong step foot on the moon and say his famous words. My Grandfather, having come from Arizona for the event, weeping in amazement, had seen the Wright Brothers fly at about the same age we were sharing this dawn of a new age.
I followed Tom Swift, Jonny Quest, Star Trek, and the rest. I’d read everything by Bradbury, Vonnegut, all that I could. Bradbury handed me my first writing award. Most of the adults I knew, and later the friends I had worked for Rockwell, Honeywell, and Raytheon. I worked for Caltech for 35 years and spoke with most every professor and Nobel Prize Laureate who ventured on our wonderful campus.
I’ve always been a hopeful person and a blind optimist. I am sixty-nine and a half years old and am still eternally both of those things. I’d like to see earthlings on Mars, and that much may happen sometime beyond my being. Colonizing Mars? Hell no! We don’t even have a civilization on Earth.

I can’t read most of your posts. It says I’m not authorized. 🤷🏽
I’m sorry. Just found this comment. It seems my site is controlled by elves, trolls, and griffins. The language keeps going, Portuguese on me, my passwords, and hosting sites require constant resetting, my tablets, laptop, and other toys don’t remain synced even for a day, and I keep misplacing my coffee. This has been going on for weeks, and is wasting so much of my writing time. I’m about to cut and paste, bail out of here, and return to my 10 or so blogger sites.
PS- I just revised this note to send as a plea to WortStress. Thanks!
Two hours chatting online with WordRest. My site has had issues for some time. Probably Operator Error. Story of my life. Thanks for giving the incentive to deal with it. I guess Evernote is next! I didn’t realize that these posts reveal our emails. Stay sassy!
Been chatting with a WP Happy Counselor all this time. Issues still not resolved. I’m too old for this shit.
Don’t be discouraged, it’s not all you. WordPress has one of the worst interfaces that I’ve ever encountered. Trying to change anything is just a series of pointless loops.
